Events, Classes, & Workshops
Qi gong, cultivation of vital energy, is a low-impact movement practice that originates from China and draws on martial arts forms. There are a wide range of benefits one can experience including calming the nervous system, reducing pain, increasing energy, and improving mood.
This is my first in-person class in years! I am so excited to gather with folks in a masked + outdoor environment to introduce qi gong, tend our bodies, and move in community. This course is reserved for QTBIPGM (queer and trans folks who are also Black, Indigenous, and/or People of Color)
Our bodies, especially as trans people, are altars to ourselves that we alter for ourselves. I am inviting folks to a NEW offering featuring qi gong and so much more. Dambana ng dibdib translates to "altar of the heart/chest" in Tagalog. This series will focus on qi gong* and traditional medicine concepts to support people that have a history of (or currently practice) chest binding, gender affirming shapewear that affects the chest, or top surgery. This course is reserved for QTBIPGM (queer and trans folks who are also Black, Indigenous, and/or People of Color)

Tian Gan qi gong for QTBIPOC
Tian Gan (Heavenly Stem) Qi Gong is a set of exercises that uses spiraling motions to slowly open up blockages in the spine so that qi can flow freely in the body. The free flowing of qi is important for maintaining our health which can include reducing pain, better body mechanics, increasing range of motion, improving mood, and boosting energy. This set is especially beneficial for anyone who does desk work or has a history of binding.

5 Phase Qi Gong FOR QTBIPOC
There are things we can do to optimize our bodies' resources towards immunity. There are things we can do to take care of ourselves and each other as we struggle for liberation and survive pandemics. In Chinese medicine there are 5 seasons. Each season is associated with a particular element (or phase) and several correspondences like color, organs, bodily fluids, sounds, flavors, etc. Why is this important? Chinese medicine, like other traditional medicines, is nature-based. Living in relationship to the natural world is a way to live in deeper relationship with ourselves, our communities, and decolonization.
